Yasmin Gauri is a Canadian former fashion model.Gauri is known for her style of walking, which Tyra Banks described as "the walk of life".Being South Asian, she is one of the first women of South Asian descent to appear on the cover of Vogue.
Early life and Career
Gauri was born in Montreal, Quebec, Canada. Her mother was German and her father was Indian, born in Hyderabad, India. According to Gauri, her paternal family is originally from Ghor, Afghanistan, and she has described herself as "half South and Central Asian".
Personal life
Gauri is married to lawyer Ralph Bernstein, with whom she has a daughter and a son. The family lives in Bedford, New York
At the age of 17, Gauri was discovered after she was approached by Edward Zakaria, artistic director of Platin Coiffure in Montreal, after she left a hair salonDespite her parents' disapproval, she actively pursued a modeling career, beginning in Milan and Paris before moving to New York City in 1990.
