Heidi Samuel born 1 June 1973 better known by her birth name Heidi Klum,is a German and American model, actress, television host, businesswoman, fashion designer, television producer, artist and occasional singer. She is married to English singer Seal.

Early life 

Heidi was raised by her parents: Günther, a cosmetics company executive; and Erna, a hairdresser, in Bergisch Gladbach, a town outside Cologne. A friend convinced her to enter a national modeling contest called "Model 92" On April 29, 1992, Klum was chosen as the winner out of 25,000 contestants and was offered a modeling contract worth US$300,000 by Thomas Zeumer, CEO of Metropolitan Models New YorkAs the winner, she appeared on the Gottschalk Late Night Show, a top German television program, with host Thomas Gottschalk. She accepted the contract a few months after graduating from school and decided not to try for an apprenticeship at a fashion design school.

Acting and Modeling

Klum has been on the cover of fashion magazines including Vogue, ELLE and Marie Claire. She gained fame after appearing on the cover of the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue and for her work with Victoria's Secret as an "Angel". Klum hosted the 2009 Victoria's Secret Fashion Show.

In July 2007, Klum was ranked third by Forbes on their list of the world's 15 highest-paid supermodels, having earned $8 million in the previous 12 months.In 2008, Forbes estimated Klum's earnings at $14 million and ranked her second. For 2009, Forbes estimated her earnings at $16 million Klum is signed to IMG Models in New York City.

Personal life

Klum married stylist Ric Pipino in 1997; the couple divorced in 2002. After the divorce, she dated Flavio Briatore. In the fall of 2003, Klum announced that she was pregnant with Briatore's child.

Klum gave birth to her first child, Helene (Leni) Klum (now Samuel), on May 4, 2004 in New York City According to Klum, Briatore, Leni's biological father, is not involved in the child's life; she has insisted that "Seal is Leni's father.
