Raashi Khanna born 30 November 1990 is an Indian actress who predominantly works in Telugu and Tamil films. She began her acting career with a supporting role in the Hindi film Madras Cafe (2013) and then starred in the Telugu film Oohalu Gusagusalade (2014), for which she received the SIIMA Award for Best Female Debut – Telugu.
Khanna starred in commercially successful films such as Bengal Tiger (2015), Supreme (2016), Jai Lava Kusa (2017), Tholi Prema (2018), Imaikkaa Nodigal (2018), Venky Mama (2019), Prati Roju Pandage (2019), Tiruchithrambalam (2022), Sardar (2022) and Aranmanai 4 (2024), and established herself as one of the leading actresses of Telugu and Tamil cinema. Khanna has also sung a few songs in various languages. She has since starred in the Hindi streaming series Rudra: The Edge of Darkness (2022) and Farzi (2023).
Early life
Khanna was born on 30 November 1990 and hails from Delhi. She did her schooling from St. Marks Senior Secondary Public School, Delhi and got her Bachelor of Arts degree in English from Lady Shri Ram College, Delhi.
According to Khanna, she was a topper in academics and was extremely hardworking and enthusiastic during her schooling and college studies. When Khanna was young, she wanted to become a singer, but as she grew up, her interest grew in studies and she aspired to become an IAS officer. Khanna claims that she was neither interested in modelling nor did she think of becoming an actress, but it was her destiny that made her an actress. During her college days, she tried her hand at copywriting for advertisements, and then acted in various advertisements before films.
Livelihood
Khanna made her on-screen debut in 2013 with a supporting role in the Hindi political espionage thriller Madras Cafe, directed by Shoojit Sircar, where she played Ruby Singh, the wife of an Indian intelligence officer portrayed by John Abraham, who was also the producer. She underwent acting workshops before landing the role. Khanna's first release was Rudra: The Edge of Darkness opposite Ajay Devgn, which also marks her digital streaming debut. It is an adaptation of the British TV show Luther. The web series received highly positive reviews from critics. In July 2022, Khanna had two releases. The first release was Pakka Commercial, which marks her third collaboration with Gopichand. The film received mixed reviews from critics upon release. The next release in the same month was Thank You, which marks her second collaboration with Naga Chaitanya. The film received negative reviews upon release, Her next release in August 2022 was Thiruchitramblam starring Dhanush. The film received positive reviews upon release, with critics praising the performances of the film's cast. Thiruchitrambalam was a box-office hit, grossing over ₹ 100 crore worldwide His next release in October was Sardar opposite Karthi. The film received positive reviews from audiences and critics alike upon release. Sardar became the second film for Khanna to gross ₹ 100 crore worldwide within the same calendar year
