Alison Elizabeth Larter born February 28, 1976, better known as Ellie Larter, is an American actress. She is best known for her dual roles as Niki Sanders and Tracy Strauss on the NBC-TV science fiction drama Heroes.
Ellie Larter was born in Cherry Hill, New Jersey. Her mother Margaret is a realtor and her father Danford Larter is a trucking executive. Her older sister Kirsten is a teacher. Ellie's modeling career began when she was spotted by a modeling scout at the age of 14. She was offered a modeling job in a Phillies advertisement. Shortly after, she signed a contract with the prestigious Ford Modeling Agency in New York. She subsequently modeled in Japan, Australia, and Italy. At the age of seventeen, she made Japan her temporary home, but in 1995 she moved to Los Angeles, California with her boyfriend.
Ellie Larter made guest appearances on several TV shows during the 1990s. Her film career began with the 1999 film Varsity Blues. Early life

Her mother, Margaret, is a realtor. She attended Carusi Middle School and Cherry Hill High School West. Larter began her modeling career at age 14 after a talent scout spotted her. Larter's modeling career began when she was spotted by a modeling scout at age 14. She was asked to appear in the sitcom Phyllis and later signed a modeling deal with the Ford Modeling Institute, a prestigious modeling company in New York. Larter later left higher education to model in Japan, Australia and Italy. At age 17, Larter temporarily moved to Japan Later, in 1995, she moved to Los Angeles, California with her boyfriend.
Personal life
While working as a model, Larter moved to Los Angeles to pursue acting. In 2002, she moved back to New York for a period of three years. In an interview with Filmmag, Larter explained her reason for the move: "I needed some time away from the pressures of the film industry and to figure myself out...part of me really needed to figure out what I wanted to do with the rest of my life. In January 2005, she moved to Los Angeles to pursue a role in Heroes.
In December 2007, Larter and her boyfriend of three years, Hayas MacArthur, decided to marry.She gave birth to a son in December 2010. They met on the set of National Lampoon's Homo Erectus. In a 2007 interview with Cosmo, Larter said "I told my boyfriend three weeks later that I wanted to marry him and we could have gotten married tomorrow.
In an interview with Cosmopolitan, Larter reflected on the state of her life, saying, "I work on TV shows that I love, I get to work with actors that I respect, and I love the person that I want to spend the rest of my life with, who inspires me and excites me. ... There's a warrior inside me that's kind of relaxing now. I don't have to be so tough to protect myself. Speaking to Vanity Fair during the premiere of her film Obsessed, Larter spoke about her own obsession, "I love cooking. I spend weekends reading cookbooks—it's really relaxing for me."
In June 2010 in Washington, D.C., Larter was one of several thousand delegates from 130 countries to attend the United Nations convention, Women Deliver.
