Rosamund Mary Ellen Pike born 1979is an English actress and producer. Known for her portrayals of morally ambiguous women in psychological thrillers and dramas, she is the recipient of several awards , including a Primetime Emmy Award and a Golden Globe Award , as well as nominations for an Academy Award and two BAFTA Awards .
Pike studied at Wadham College, Oxford, and appeared in stage productions including Romeo and Juliet at the National Youth Theatre before beginning her acting career. She achieved success for her film debut as Bond girl Miranda Frost in Die Another Day (2002), and had supporting roles in the period dramas Pride & Prejudice (2005), An Education (2009) and Made in Dagenham (2010)
Pike was born in Hammersmith, London in 1979, the only child of opera singers Julian Pike and Caroline Friend. She attended Badminton School in Bristol and was spotted by an agent while playing Juliet in the National Youth Theatre's production of Romeo and Juliet, helping her to begin a professional career. After being rejected by every stage school she applied to, she gained a place at Wadham College, Oxford, to read English literature. She graduated in 2001 with an upper second class honours degree, taking a year off to pursue her acting career, gaining stage experience in David Hare's Skylight, Arthur Miller's All My Sons and several plays by William Shakespeare.
While at Oxford, Pike was in a relationship with Simon Woods that lasted two years. They later played lovers Jane Bennett and Charles Bingley in Pride and Prejudice. She then became engaged to that production's director, Joe Wright; their engagement ended in 2008.
Since December 2009, Pike has been in a relationship with Robbie Uniacke, a businessman, and they have two sons, both fluent in Mandarin. They live in Prague. In 2015, when he visited China to promote Gone Girl, Paik mentioned that Uniakey had given him a Chinese name 裴淳华 (traditional Chinese: 裴淳華, pinyin: Péi Chūnhuá, IPA: and, as a fan of Chinese culture, he would like the media to use it as his Chinese name instead of using the transliteration of his English name.
