Jaimie Lauren Alexander born March 12, 1984 is an American actress. She is known for her roles as Jessie in the TV series Kyle XY and Lady Sif in the Marvel Cinematic Universe films Thor (2011), Thor: The Dark World (2013), and Thor: Love and Thunder (2022), as well as in the television series Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. (2013–2020) and the Disney+ series Loki (2021). From 2015 to 2020, she starred in the NBC series Blindspot.
Early life
Jaimie Alexander was born in Greenville, South Carolina, but moved to Grapevine, Texas when she was four. She is the fourth child and the only girl in a family of five children. Alexander first got into acting in grade school, where she did theater for fun. Alexander said she was kicked out of theater when she was in high school because she could not sing, so she switched to sports. When she was 17, she substituted for a friend at a meeting with a scouting agency and met her manager, Randy James, who sent her some scripts. A year and a half after graduating from Colleyville Heritage High School, she moved to Los Angeles to pursue her acting career.
Personal life
After meeting on the set of Lucious, Alexander began dating actor Peter Facinelli in 2012. They became engaged in March 2015. In February 2016, Alexander and Facinelli announced that they had ended their engagement. Also in 2012, Alexander suffered serious injuries after slipping from a metal ladder on a rainy morning on the set of Thor: The Dark World. The fall displaced a disc in her thoracic spine and broke 11 vertebrae, as well as dislocating her left shoulder and cracking a rhomboid bone on her right side. The injuries forced her out of filming for a month.
Additionally, during the filming of Blindspot, Alexander suffered several injuries, including: ruptured C6 and C7 discs from submersion in water; T3, T4, T8 and T9 disc herniations; broken nose; dislocated right shoulder; broken right index finger; broken left foot; two toes on left foot broken three times; broken right foot; two toes on right foot broken; dislocated jaw; and other injuries she was not allowed to disclose.
In March 2018, Alexander was hospitalized and underwent surgery after her appendix burst. She later recovered.
