Gal Gadot born 30 April 1985 is an Israeli actress and model. Gadot won Miss Israel 2004 before serving in the Israel Defense Forces. She played Gisele Yashar in the 2009 film Fast & Furious. Gadot also played Wonder Woman in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice in 2016. She appeared in the solo film Wonder Woman (2017) and again as Wonder Woman in Justice League (2017).
In 2013, she was ranked the second-highest-earning fashion model in Israel. She is the face of Gucci's Bamboo perfume.
In 2019, Gadot formed her own production company, Pilot Wave, with her husband Yaron Varsano. Since the company's formation, several projects have been announced, including several biographical films about important female historical figures, including Irena Sendler, Hedy Lamarr, and Cleopatra.
In February 2024, Gadot was rushed to the hospital while eight months pregnant and was diagnosed with CVT, a rare form of stroke that accounts for less than 3% of all strokes She underwent emergency surgery to remove a "large" blood clot from her brain. In December 2024, Gadot said she had fully recovered.
Gadot was born in Petah Tikva, Israel to Jewish parents and raised in Rosh HaAyin, Israel. Her family changed their last name from Greenstein to Gadot, a common practice in Israel. For many diaspora Jews who moved to Israel, taking a Hebrew surname was a way to erase the remnants of their diaspora experience and assimilate into a new shared Jewish identity. In Hebrew, her first name means "wave". Her last name means "riverbank". Her parents were born in Israel. Her father Michael Gadot is an engineer. Her mother Irit is a teacher. Gadot's maternal grandfather Abraham Weiss was a Holocaust survivor from Czechoslovakia. She was an accomplished ballet, hip-hop, and modern jazz dancer as a child, as well as a volleyball and tennis player. She was a member of her high school's basketball team.
