Zendaya is an American actress and singer, born September 1, 1996. Her full name is Zendaya Marie Stoermer Coleman. Born and raised in Oakland, California, Zendaya has received two Primetime Emmy Awards. Zendaya is rooted in the Shona language and means "to give thanks." His African-American father Kazembe Ajamu Coleman and mother of German and Scottish descent Claire Stoermer were teachers. The youngest of five siblings, Zendaya attended Fruitvale Elementary School. His entertaining coach was first featured in a play presented during Black History Month at the age of six. She later joined the California Shakespeare Theater in Orinda, California where her mother worked as house manager as a summer job. To hone her moves, Zendaya joined a hip-hop dance troupe called Future Shock Oakland at the age of 8 and remained a member for three years, followed by dancing Huala with the Academy of Hawaiian Arts.
During her school days, Zendaya was cast in several roles in regional theatres. She played Little T'Moune in Once on This Island at the Berkeley Playhouse. Hollywood star Zendaya started her career as a child model and backstage dancer. She made her television debut with the Disney Channel sitcom Shake It Up, which aired between 2010 and 2013.
