Dusshera 2023: Lord Vishnu took many incarnations to destroy unrighteousness. Tretayuga Lord Ram Srihari was the seventh incarnation of Lord Vishnu. On the tenth day of Shukla Paksha of Ashwin month, Lord Rama killed Lankapati Ravana and re-established religion over unrighteousness. This day is known as Vijayadashami. It is celebrated as Dussehra because of the death of ten-headed Ravana on Vijayadashami. Let us know when Dussehra will be celebrated in the year 2023 and what is the significance of this day.

According to mythological beliefs, Mother Durga fought with Mahishasura for nine days and then killed him on the day of Vijayadashami. After Ravana kidnapped Mother Sita, Lord Shri Ram killed the arrogant Ravana with the help of the divine weapon received from Mother Durga on Ashwin Shukla Dashami Tithi. The killing of Ravana symbolizes the victory of truth over untruth. It is believed that one who worships Lord Ram and Goddess Durga during Vijay Muhurta on this day, gets the blessing of victory over the enemy and all his work gets accomplished.
