Reema Lamba aka Mallika Sherawat is a famous actress of Indian cinema. She mainly works in Hindi films and is known for her bold style on screen. She established herself as a sex symbol in the first decade of the 21st century with the help of Khwahish and Murder. After this, she appeared in the successful romantic comedy film Pyaar Ke Side Effects, which earned her much critical acclaim. She is the first Indian actress to work with Jackie Chan.
She changed her name to Mallika in films, so that she could differentiate herself from other actresses named Reema. Mallika means queen and she wanted people to call her by this name. Sherawat is her mother's family name. In June 2007, a famous magazine of Hong Kong ranked her in the list of 100 most beautiful people of Asia.
Early life
Mallika was born on 24 October 1976 in Rohtak city of Haryana. Father Mukesh Kumar Lamba was an engineer and mother Santosh was a homemaker. Mallika received her primary education in a school in Rohtak itself. When she reached the eighth grade, her father moved to Delhi. Mallika completed her remaining schooling from DPS Mathura Road. Her father got her admitted to Miranda House, a girls college of Delhi University, to keep her away from boys. Mallika was pursuing a degree in philosophy here. During these days Mallika started modelling secretly.
Personal life
After completing her college, Mallika started working as an air hostess. During this time, she fell in love with pilot Karan Singh Gill. Soon, both of them got married. But Mallika and her in-laws never had a good relationship. The biggest reason behind this was Mallika's intention to go to the movies. Mallika's in-laws wanted her to be a good daughter-in-law, but Mallika wanted to become a heroine. Therefore, Karan and Mallika's marriage broke up. After getting out of the marriage, Mallika came to Mumbai. But she never talks about it. A few years ago, Karan's mother talked about this matter and said that she did not know any Mallika Sherawat. Her son was married to a girl named Reema Lamba.
According to a BBC report in 2017, Mallika Sherawat was thrown out of her Paris flat. Because she had not paid the rent for that flat for a long time.
