Trisha Krishnan (born 4 May 1983), known as Khali Trisha, is an Indian actress and model who predominantly works in South Indian cinema where she has built a successful career. Chennai-born Trisha came into limelight after winning beauty pageants like Miss Chennai and this. Trisha made her Hindi film debut with Priyadarshan's Khatta Meetha.
Trisha is the only child of her parents born in 1983 in a Tamil Iyer family in Chennai She did her schooling from Sacred Heart Matriculation School, Chennai, later she went on to pursue a business from Etiraj College for Women. Graduated in Administration (BBA). Trisha won Miss Salem in 1999 and Miss Chennai beauty pageant in 2000, after which she started receiving films and advertisements. She won "Beautiful Smile" at Miss India 2001 "Won the award as well.
She first appeared in Falguni Pathak's song "Meri Chunar Ud Ud Jaye", as Ayesha Takia's friend. Her first film was a Tamil film titled Her Jodi in which her character was uncredited. Priyadarshan later approached Trisha for a starring role in his Tamil film Lesa Lesa. However, the film was a seriously long stretch. Therefore, the 2002 Tamil film Mounam Pesiyaade was her first film with a lead role. The 2003 film Sami, opposite Vikram in which she played a Tamil Brahmin girl, was Trisha's first successful film.
In 2004, she forayed into Telugu cinema, with Varsham which made her an overnight sensation. The character played by her, a middle-class girl who becomes a film star at the insistence of her father, was well received. Trisha received the Filmfare Award for Best Actress (Telugu) in South among others for her performance. Her next film was a Tamil film titled Gilli opposite Vijay. The film proved to be the biggest hit of 2004.
In the years that followed, Trisha had several films, but the characters she played in them were suppressed by those of her male co-workers and her work was limited. Her second Telugu film was the 2005 film Nuvvostanante Nenoddantan. The film was the first film directed by Prabhu Deva in which Siddharth was the lead actor. She received her second consecutive Filmfare Award for Best Actress (Telugu) and the first Nandi Award for her role as a village girl played by Trisha. The film eventually secured eight Southern Filmfare Awards, the most by a Telugu film. While the film also emerged as a huge success at the box office. Trisha also reprized her role in its Tamil remake.
Her next films Zee and Aadi in which she was paired opposite Ajith Kumar and Vijay respectively, were critical and financial failures. The successes of Varsham and Nuvvostanante Nenoddantan got him M S Raju's third Telugu film, Poorninami. The film with the titular role of Trisha became a huge failure. Trisha's last Tamil film Unakkam Inakkam in 2006, a remake of Nuvvostanante Nenoddantan, was a huge success at Tikkad Khidki. Her next Telugu film was Stalin in which she was opposite Chiranjeevi and then she appeared in Sainikudu opposite Mahesh Babu.
